Gas Odor
It is not normal to smell gas near the meter or in your house. Any amount gas noticed indoors could be an emergency situation.
Before we investigate we have no idea whether the gas levels constitute an immediately dangerous situation. It would be best to evacuate the house if you can. DO NOT operate any electrical equipment including light switches.

Carbon Monoxide
Carbon monoxide is an odorless gas that can be deadly. The best protection against carbon monoxide is to inspect and maintain your appliances on a regular basis. Evergreen Gas Co-op doesn’t do this work, make an appointment with your plumber/gasfitter. Carbon monoxide detectors can be purchased at hardware stores but keep in mind that these types of detectors do expire and make yourself aware of the what the alarm patterns mean.
Common symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are headache, fatigue, confusion, nausea and weakness, among others. Often symptoms can be noticed in children or pets first.
If a carbon monoxide leak is suspected you should evacuate yourself to fresh air and consider seeking medical aid.

After investigating, our employees may be required to shut off your gas supply.
Line Hit
In the event of a line break please call 780-542-4808 and speak with the office during business hours or follow the prompts to speak to a service person outside of business hours. We will come and repair it. Try to have your legal land description or address available and let us know of any other potential hazards. We will need to know what the line was struck with and whether you have digging equipment and a competent operator still on site.
DO NOT attempt to operate machinery in the gas plume and maintain a safe distance up wind of the line hit. Consider evacuating any nearby buildings.
