Supporting Alberta’s Future Leaders

The Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops is proud to offer the Achievement Award, designed to support students beginning their post-secondary education or apprenticeship in Alberta. Each year, four awards of $1,000 are granted to deserving students of gas who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, and a commitment to their future.

Award Details

  • Number of Awards: 4 annually
  • Value: $1,000 each
  • Eligibility:
    • Children of Evergreen Gas Co-op members or landowners serviced by a Federation member utility (membership must be active for at least one year)
    • Entering the first year of a degree, diploma, or apprenticeship program at an accredited Alberta post-secondary institution
    • Minimum 75% average in core subjects in your final year of high school
    • Not open to children of active Federation Board members

Eligible Institutions

Applicants must be accepted to one of Alberta’s accredited post-secondary institutions, including (but not limited to):

  • University of Alberta
  • University of Calgary
  • University of Lethbridge
  • SAIT, NAIT, Red Deer College, and more

Application Requirements

To apply, submit the following by October 1:

  1. Completed Application Form (Make sure to get this signed by Evergreen)
  2. 250-word Essay about yourself, your goals, and why you should receive the award
  3. Two Reference Letters (from teachers, employers, coaches, or ministers – not relatives)
  4. Academic Transcripts (final and next-to-final year)

Preference is given to students entering fields related to the natural gas industry or rural-based programs.

Selection & Notification

  • Applications are reviewed by a committee appointed by Alberta Municipalities
  • Winners are announced at the Federation’s Annual General Meeting each fall
  • Recipients must maintain full-time studies and provide proof of admission
